Zohran Mamdani Promises a 'Fresh Chapter' for NYC in First Address

On his first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” the metropolis, promising “a fresh chapter” and an bold start to his tenure.

An Unprecedented Leader

The young democratic socialist, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
